Money Affirmations That Will Bring Money Into Your Wallet – Part TwoIn part one we talked about how some people fail at using money affirmations to bring them an increase in finances. The reason is simply that some preconceived ideas about money will conflict with the affirmations a person is affirming. Here is an example:A person affirms to receive a promotion (which would involve a 100% raise). This seems simple enough - unless the person has some inner money issues about the desired promotion. -“A fifty percent raise is a lot. Am I really worth that much money?" -“What if people will think I am a fraud and tell my boss I don’t deserve that kind of compensation?” -“What will my husband think when I make two times as much money as him?” -“My sister went to college longer than me and she does not even make that kind of money, would I have to hide my promotion from her?” -“Would I have to move to the downtown office? That would require dressing up more. I hate business suits and think the downtown staff are snobs; always flaunting their fancy cars, laptops and lattes at us. Do I really want to be one of those rich downtown snobs?” -“My parents are going to need extra care pretty soon, will my siblings think I should pay a bigger share because I will make more money than the rest of them?” -“Will getting a raise change me and make me a rich? What will my neighbors think? Will we have to move?” This person is comfortable making the amount of money she currently makes however the idea of doubling her salary is causing her to have some really strong negative emotions. Affirming to receive a promotion will probably not do much because of the fear this lady is experiencing. Saying affirmations while being scared to death is not a healthy endeavour. Money affirmations, or any type of affirmations, work a lot better when there is a positive emotion attached. If you are saying affirmations and you feel sad, angry, confused, perplexed or fearful stop and take notice. Then, try and address the issue. Wednesday, April 29, 2009 Money Affirmations That Will Bring Money into Your Wallet – Part OneSo you want more money do you? Seems simply enough – focus on what you want, speak your affirmations and in a while - presto, money is everywhere... Right? Well, it does not really work that way and most people get really disappointed with their money affirmations efforts. I think the reason is really simple, however the remedy isn’t. The remedy requires work, focus and a willingness to change. The best place to start is to talk about why most people fail with their financial affirmations. Most people fail at using affirmations to get more money because of something inside of them. The person doing the affirmation actually sabotages the affirmations. Why would someone do such a thing? All people, regardless of upbringing, economic status, race or any other difference that sets a person apart, have many preconceived notions about money. Everyone I have ever met has had thoughts and opinions about money. My mother does, my father does, my siblings do, and my mayor does. Even the president has thoughts and opinions about money. You will never meet a person who does not have ideas about how money works. All of these people also have some very strong ideas about how they fit with money, how the money thing works for them and what part money plays in their lives and the lives of others. Sounds pretty complicated doesn’t it? Answer these questions and see what you think about some of these money ideas: 1.Being rich while there are poor people is morally wrong. (yes, no or maybe) 2.Living pay check to pay check is wrong. (yes, no or maybe) 3.The answer to a healthy retirement is to invest a portion of your money now so you will have money later. (yes, no or maybe) 4.It is wrong if I get laid off, or someone I know gets laid off. (yes, no or maybe) 5.I think the government spends too much borrowed money. (yes, no or maybe) 6.Short selling stocks on the stock market is morally wrong. (yes, no or maybe) 7.Corporations are too powerful in our economy. (yes, no or maybe) 8.Parents should help their children pay for their education. (yes, no or maybe) 9.Borrowing money is wrong. (yes, no or maybe) 10.Buying real estate is to key to financial freedom. (yes, no or maybe) Did you know there is no right or wrong answer to these questions? Does the notion that there is no right or wrong regarding money make you a little agitated? The truth is - There are only preconceived opinions, ideas and thoughts about money. And the point is – To realize that even you have your own opinions and ideas about money. It does not matter where you got these ideas from, just realize you have them. The key now is to make sure those ideas don’t get in to the way of using affirmations to bring more money into your life. Sunday, April 26, 2009 Affirmations That Will Bring Happiness into Your LifeIt seems these days that a lot of people are not that impressed with their happiness gas tank. It’s been running on fumes for years and there are only a few drops left. Maybe it is time for a change, why not try some affirmations? Before we begin I think you need to know that saying affirmations alone will not bring you happiness. Affirmations need to be spoken, written, meditated or visualized within a state of wanting to change. The best way to do this is to affirm that change is something you are open to. How about: “I am open to changing and evolving.” This affirmation will gently move you in the direction of recognizing things in your life that you would be served to look at and decide whether some housecleaning is in order. This affirmation will also gently move you in the direction of wanting to add things in your life that are not currently there. Ok, so our first affirmation takes care of the changing and evolving part. Now let’s get to that happiness thing. What do we affirm for when we are interested in being happier? 1. Specific items that we really wish to have in our life? Nope, things won’t make you happy. In fact any problems or dysfunctions you have now will only be made larger (and more painful) if you suddenly get a bunch of new things you think you want – especially money! 2. People aligning about us as we wish for? Nope, people can’t make you happy either. In fact, you will only be disappointed because people have wills and desires that won’t be the same as yours. Stumped? How about this affirmation: Step One (from above): “I am open to changing and evolving.” Step Two: “I am open to finding true happiness in my life and in myself.” That’s it? Yup. Happiness is actually very easy to find. Most people just go looking in all the places that happiness never goes. Yes, getting more things, or money, or people in your life might make things more comfortable but being comfortable does not make you happy. Happiness comes from within. If we only looked there first we would find it a lot easier. But be warned - it still will take some time to recognize that happiness feeling you long for. You have been stifling it and ignoring it for years and it will need some time to get convinced you are really open to changing, evolving and finding out where it resides. Have fun on your journey and know that happiness awaits. Wednesday, April 22, 2009 The Key to Getting Affirmations to Work for YouAffirmations really work for some people. Others seem to bomb big time with affirmations and the books and affirmation journals soon get tossed in the trash. Why is this so? While there are many reasons why some people can’t get affirmations to work I think these persons are missing the secret key to the whole exercise. And this key does not only apply to affirmations. I really think it is the key to life. Get a grasp on this secret and your life will radically change for the better. Interested?Remove the act of judgement from your life. Ready to take a test drive? The next time you read the newspaper, talk to your co-workers, chat with your mother, see a homeless person, check out the weather report, or read a magazine notice how many times you pass judgement on what you read, hear, see or are told. “That is a tragedy...” “My boss is such a loser...” “She is totally wrong, I know what is really happening...” “He was too young to die...” “It is going to rain, what a miserable day...” “He does not know what he is talking about...” “Those guys are ruining the whole project, wait till I talk to my boss about this...” Most of the time you will notice your judgements about things are negative in nature. You will also notice that you have an opinion about everything! - Like people you don’t know - Situations you know little about or are not involved in -World events you just read about -People you have not talked to in months And countless others... But wait! Are things really a tragedy or are they just things that you would not like to have happen to you? Is your boss really a loser, or does he just think differently than you? How do you know someone is totally wrong or do they just act in an alternate manner? Was that guy really too young to die or did he just die before your preconceived notion of when it is the right time to die? Sometimes we even pass judgement on things and decide they are wonderful! That can be just as dysfunctional. A passing grade for some is great, for another it is exactly what they did not want. News of a new grandchild might bring joy to you, but the parents might not be thrilled about it. Finding out you just got a new client might look great to your co-workers, but you might not think you have the manpower to handle the clients you already have. So how does removing judgement map onto getting our affirmations to work? Results to affirmations don’t always happen in a linear fashion. Results don’t always happen all together. The results of your affirmation might be a ten step puzzle that takes you here and there and finally gets you to where you wanted to go. If you start judging the outcomes of your affirmation ‘while in transit’ you likely will pass judgement on something that is really just part of the total result soon to be coming your way – and if you do the final result will disappear. Poof! Right before your eyes the affirmation stops working, you give up and toss out all those articles and books about affirmations. Removing the act of judgement takes a bit of effort. Instead of judging things why not try just observing what is going on around you and say: ‘‘Oh, I see he broke his leg.” “Yes, I heard he died.” “There is going to be a snowstorm today.” “The boat sunk.” “He passed his exam and got accepted into law school.” Sounds like you are just stating the facts. Exactly! And when your start your affirmations and you notice something in your life change – just notice. Most likely the change is the start of your affirmation coming to pass. Just to let you know, many times affirmations start coming to pass when a ‘perceived’ negative event happens. I have experienced this dozens of times. I worked with a fellow that received news he has testicular cancer. He left work for a number of months and worked through his recovery. When he returned to work he was a changed man. He was beaming like an angel. All of this from getting cancer? Sometimes things that appear to be negative can be life’s biggest gifts and get you closer to what you really want. I wonder what would have happened if this guy had passed judgement on his situation? Would he still have come out of those months feeling light as a feather? I doubt it. Why not try removing judgement from your life for one week? Take the challenge and see if you can do it. You will start to notice that you look at everything in a very different way. People won’t be able to get you rattled, reading the newspaper won’t get you in a huff, that call from your mother will go over like a breeze and your conversation with your kid will leave you feeling totally free. Oh, and your affirmations will start to work because you left the ‘chain of events that will lead to your result’ alone. Simply observe life, stop being the judge and watch your life and affirmations really start to work in your favour. Monday, April 20, 2009 How Do I Get Started With Affirmations? When you first come across the idea of affirmations it might seem a little overwhelming. There are a lot of questions to answer.*What area of my life do I use affirmations for? *What is the best affirmation to start with? *How do I choose an affirmation that is perfect for me? *When will my affirmation come to pass? Well, the first place to start is to decide you are going to try using affirmations to enhance your life. It works well to commit to a period of time. Two weeks sounds like a great trial period that will give to time to see if affirmations are for you. The second place to start is to decide what part of your life you wish to enhance. Most people want to work on all or some of the following areas: -Money related matters - Love life -Health -Self Image and -How a person relates to the world or sometimes called ‘power affirmations’ It is best to start with an area of your life that is working somewhat but you want to make it better. It is not advisable to start with an area of your life that is falling apart or majorly dysfunctional. You will have lots of time to tackle the big stuff when you are more experienced with affirmations. Choose an area of your life that you have higher hopes for but can stay the way it is for a period of time when you get the hang of how to use affirmations. Let’s say you pick money related matters. Most of us have some amount of money in our lives but want help getting more of it, creating more of it and using it to fulfill our dreams. Now what? First, focus on what you want to experience in regards to money. Focusing on specifics (like the amount of bonus you want to earn) is great however it is better to focus on the essence of what you want to experience after you receive more money or when you have a more evolved relationship with money. Here are some sample money affirmations: *“I am enough, always have been, always will be.” *“I came to this earth equipped to thrive and flourish. I give myself permission to evolve my finances.” *“My DNA is programmed to evolve. I give my finances permission to evolve.” *“I have more than enough money to create all of my dreams.” *“I am learning how to create more money.” *“I am open to my relationship with money evolving.” *“I am open to receiving more money than even before. I am open to giving more money than ever before.” *“I am open to participating more in the economy and giving and receiving more money.” Now you might like the above affirmations or you might read them and have no reaction. The reaction you have is very important information that you need to take note of. Some affirmations just ‘click’ with people and some just don’t. If you come across an affirmation that gives you a little jolt in your heart, that is the affirmation for you. If you are writing you own, keep writing sample affirmations until you feel a strong positive emotional reaction. Affirmations need to evoke a positive emotion or they will likely not be effective. Once you have your affirmation start affirming! Repeat your affirmation to yourself and out loud (when alone) whenever you think about your particular focus point (money, health, love, self image, power or other). It is best to repeat the affirmation at least five times in a row to really get your affirmation to sink in. Try affirming first thing in the morning, last thing at night, during any meditation or prayer time you have and when you are doing mundane tasks (showering, grooming, house cleaning, cooking, driving, some work functions, etc). You don’t need to repeat the affirmation all day and all night. A few times throughout the day is sufficient. Writing out your affirmation on paper and posting it around your house or workspace is a great reminder to continue saying your affirmation and a visual that will help you remember what you are focusing on. Some people also write out their affirmation over and over to help it sink in. Try this and see if you think it resonates with you. You might want to get a journal to use if you find you like writing out your affirmation. Now for the final question... When will my affirmation come to pass? This answer is really up to you. This is why I recommended you pick an area of your life that is not in crisis. Affirmations are something you ease into. Some people get really quick results. Others seem to toss about for awhile before they see anything really change. The best way to approach affirmations is to say them a few times per day and then forget about them for the rest of your day. Getting obsessed with saying affirmations every minute of the day and deeply yearning for the results will drive you and everyone around you crazy. It will also slow down your efforts because your mind will get in the way. Think of this exercise like a set of Buddhist prayer flags. Prayers are made and then the flags blow in the wind and send the prayers out in the universe. The process is to let the flags blow as they will and let the wind do the work. Affirmations work best if you say them and then forget about them. *Choose your focus point (money, health, love, self image, power or other) *Pick an affirmation that resonates with you (remember to create a positive emotional reaction) *Say your affirmation multiple times per day (but don’t get obsessed with it, especially if you want to keep your friends and family near) *Let the affirmation do the work for you (release when, where and how things will work out) Have fun getting into affirmations. Stick with it, affirmations really work! Be well,
Thursday, April 16, 2009 Can I Affirm My Way To Happiness?Do you want the quick answer? I guess the best response would be ‘maybe’. It really depends on what we are talking about.Affirming your way to happiness might work over a period of time but affirming for things that will make you happy will never do anything. Sound complicated? It is. Let’s start with the person who says the affirmation: “I am happy” over and over for a period of time. Can saying this tiny phrase help to make you happy? I think saying the phrase “I am happy” can help you: -To feel different emotions that will -Help you make different decisions that will -Help you take different actions that will -Result in you being happier. Saying affirmations that will bring you ‘things’ or ‘experiences’ that you think will make you happy will do nothing for your level of happiness. Why? Things and experiences don’t make a person happy. Being happy is something that you are. You don’t get happiness from things, people or experiences. You can be a homeless street person who has nothing and be much happier than a rich man with a beautiful wife, home and children. So let’s go back to the person who says the affirmation “I am happy” over and over. What really happens when this phrase is repeated? Do the ‘happiness genies’ pay this person a visit and kiss his forehead forever making him happy? Does this man receive mysterious non-drug related ‘happy pill’s in his mailbox? I am pretty sure the answer is a little bit more explainable. I think what happens is, over time, this person reprograms themselves with the notion that they are happy and this person changes his behavior and actions. After all of this our happy affirmer becomes more happy because he figures out, due to his repeated affirming, that happiness in a decision and the happiness emotion comes from within, not from somewhere floating around the universe. Which then brings up the issue why not just decide to be happy and be done with it? Why take the time and effort to do all the “I am happy” affirmations? Well you could, but if you had a thought paradigm that indicated that happiness was something that came from somewhere other than your own self you could not ‘just’ make the decision to be happy – it would not do anything. So then I guess we are back to saying the affirmation “I am happy”. Yes we are, or you could even try the affirmation: “I am open to finding the true source of happiness” And let The Universe, over time; bring about situations and circumstances to show you where happiness comes from. Affirmations that start with “I am open...” are especially helpful when you are not truly convinced something is possible or can happen. This affirmation would especially work well if you had some thought paradigms that even slightly resembled you thinking you would be really be a lot happier if you got a ‘certain bunch of things’ or had some ‘certain experiences’. Remember, you don’t have to decide right away to be happy- when you don’t really believe it. Let the “I am open” affirmation do the work and over time you will want to decide to be happy. So does affirming for happiness really work? Like I said back at the beginning – maybe. It really depends on where you think happiness comes from and how far you are willing to open your heart and mind to find out where that place is. Be well,
Wednesday, April 15, 2009 What Affirmation Can I Say When I Am Too Tired To Affirm?Finding yourself a little tired lately? Fatigue happens, it is your body’s way of telling you to slow down and rest. If your version of resting involves flopping on a pillow with your meditation journal empty and your affirmations unspoken try this affirmation. It is easy and you can say it whether you are half asleep or barely awake. Actually this affirmation would work better if you are zoned out and unable to think straight anyway. Here it is. Write it on a piece of paper and place it on your mirror, your fridge and in your car (ok, maybe not your car, zone out somewhere else if you must).“I am open” If you are coherent enough add these statements on the end “I am open to change” “I am open to expansion” “I am open to evolving” “I am open to being happy” “I am open to understanding who I am” “I am open to being myself” “I am open to hearing my intuition” “I am open to the life I came here to live” “I am open to being open” “I am open to new thoughts” “I am open to new experiences” “I am open to unexpected abundance” “I am open to being in love with life” “I am open to having fun” “I am open to this life being easy” So next time you think you are too tired to do your affirmations try this little three word zinger - “I am open” A whole new world will await you – whether you find yourself sleeping or not. Be well, Joan Pasay **************************************************************************
Monday, April 13, 2009 What Affirmations Can I Use In A Recession? So we are in a recession. Technically all the economic measurements are pointing in the direction of the economy shrinking rather than growing. Now what? Do we run away and hide? Do we protest the billions of tax dollars being given to the banking industry? Do we send nasty letters to our stock broker? Do we curse our employer who just handed us our layoff notice? You can do some of these things if you feel it would serve you but I would ask you to do something first.Decide to keep living. When I say ‘decide’ I really mean make the decision that you will keep on living... Even if you are one of the ones who lost a home, a job, a bunch of money, a business or something else you worked really hard to get. Decide to keep living. So what does living look like? Well, you wake up every morning and tell The Universe you are glad (and mean it) to be alive. You greet whomever you live with or around and sincerely wish them a great day. You look around you and regardless of what you see you determine you are going to expand and evolve and become better. Here are some affirmations to get you started. *I am open to new ways to view money *I am open to new ways of creating income *I am open to new ways of investing money *I am open to having a new relationship with money *I am open to forgiving myself and others for making money errors *I am open to moving onwards with my life *I am open to finding opportunities in every situation *I am enough. I came to this earth equipped to thrive and flourish. *My DNA is programmed to thrive and evolve. I give myself permission to grow, flourish and be strong. *I am open to seeing myself as my source. I have all the power and resources I need to thrive. *I give myself permission to show me solutions and opportunities to create money and wealth. *I give myself permission to be my power and my source. Try these affirmations out for the next 30 days and see how much better you feel and what interesting things start to happen in your life. Don’t be surprised if you start to see things you never saw before and come across opportunities that you never knew existed. I know for some of you this will not be easy. I have been affected by what is happening in the economy too. One source of income has totally blown out the window and my partner and I have had to retool and rework. It’s alright. This type of thing had happening before. 10 years ago I received four hours notice that my high paying executive job was to be eliminated. Four hours notice our one income home was to become a no-income home. Oh yeah, our brand new house had its first mortgage payment due that day too. Three days later I found out I would have to take my employer to court to get my severance monies. A day after that my father in law went into hospital with heart issues. He had open heart surgery and had to be resuscitated three times to bring him back. I know what it looks like and feels like when chaos is all around. If your life is in chaos I would encourage you to stand back and simply observe what is happening. After that determine you will rise above the chaos and continue to evolve and thrive. Go ahead and hide away in a small cave of you want to but sooner or later you will have to come out and do something and feel something else other than frustration, anger, self pity, hate, and madness. Today is the day to start moving forward and see the economic downturn as a situation that, in time, will eventually fade away. Whether part of you shrivels up, fades away and never comes back is really up to you. Be well, Joan Pasay PS. Bonus affirmation and meditation visualization exercise: "I am enough." Use this affirmation and visualize yourself holding the earth in your hands. Imagine yourself much bigger than the earth and you are holding the earth as you would a small child. Console the earth and assure the earth all is well. Now imagine yourself getting bigger and bigger and the earth getting smaller and smaller. Now the earth is simply a tiny speck in your hand. Notice how large you feel and how small your 'problems' seem. Try this every morning and evening for a week. Be well, Joan Pasay **************************************************************************
Saturday, April 11, 2009 How Specific Should I Make My Affirmation So I Will See Results?Probably every affirmation coach in the world will tell you something different about the specifics of affirmations so I might as well weigh in as well. To be specific or not specific – that is the question. But what is the answer?I started out doing affirmations before I had ever heard of them or was given an explanation of the method of affirmations. I had read some self improvement books, identified some areas of my life I wanted to change and thought the way to see change would be to focus on statement that represented my preferred future. Viola, my new life partner was born - affirmations. Seven years later I am still affirming and telling everyone who asks (as well as some who don’t) all about the power of affirmations. It was only about five years ago that I ever heard that these positive statements were called affirmations. When I started with my ‘positive statements’ I used very specific affirmations. My results were pretty good however some of my affirmations went nowhere. Now I realize I my specifics got me in trouble and limited my results. I also noticed the results I did achieve always seemed to match my specifics – they were never higher or grander. Now I use very broad and general affirmations and focus more on the ‘essence’ of what I am focusing on. This allows me to really hone in on the ‘feeling’ and ‘experience’ I am seeking while leaving the ‘mechanics’ of how the affirmation will come to pass up to The Universe. Using this approach opens up my results to achieving the feeling I want without sticking to a specific way of getting it. Are you focusing on buying a new home? Well you could affirm: “I am buying a new home, and it is easy and fun” Is this really your end goal? Or is your goal to be living in a great home and in your mind the only way to have this is to buy a new home... See where I am going? What if The Universe had a really great plan that would allow you to live in a fabulous place but it did not include you buying anything. What if the best solution for you was to inherit a home that you would love forever? If you focus is on buying a home that is what you will manifest. You will likely find it easy and fun, since that was included in your affirmation however you will never know or experience the joy of getting a home without buying it. You also might be paying for that new home for the next 30 years. Regardless of whether you hold a mortgage you still had to do something to pay for that new house. By using a specific affirmation you may have made your life a lot more difficult than necessary. How about affirming: “I am living in a home I love, and it was fun and easy to get it.” Here is a simple way to broaden your affirmation to reflect the root or essence of what you want to experience with a example involving money. Identify the issue you want to change: I want more money Ask yourself: Why do you want more money? -Do you want to be more secure? -Do you want to buy something? -Do you want to make more investments? -Do you think getting money will make you happy? -Do you want to pay off debt? Find out what you want to feel/experience because you will have more money. It could be relief, safety, peace, or a whole bunch of other emotions. Once you think you know the emotion and/or experience you are looking for affirm for that. Here are some examples: Money related: Affirmation: “I am attracting $50K into my life” Scenario: This guy wants to buy a certain list of objects and he thinks it will cost 50K. Becomes... “I am purchasing everything my heart desires and it is easy, fun and a joy to spend this money.” Love related: Affirmation: “I am attracting a life partner that will be with me until death do us part.” Scenario: This gal wants a healthy permanent relationship. Becomes... “I am in a healthy, long term relationship that leaves us both satisfied and yearning for more.” Health related: Affirmation: “I am jogging five miles a day, in the early morning, and feeling a great.” Scenario: This fellow wants to increase the amount he exercises. Becomes: “My body and I are in tune and healthy, I exercise until I am satisfied.” Being a little less specific in your affirmation leaves rooms for your results to be grander as well as the method of achieving your affirmation a bit of a mystery. Remember the person who wanted the 50K? What if the best solution was for him to get 500K and he was able to buy all the things he every wanted now and in the future? Too bad if he affirmed for the 50K I guess he will get his list of things and then his money will run out. Remember the person who wanted a long term relationship? She actually was to have four of them in her remaining life, all very different and full of adventure and lots of happiness (and each relationship was to end well too). Too bad if she affirmed for the life partner that had to be there until they both died...he never showed up. Remember the health nut? He was to discover that he really loved yoga a lot more than running and his future wife was that cute yoga instructor that taught the class before his. Too bad if he stuck with his jogging affirmation...he would be forever be buying jogging shoes and thinking this exercise thing ‘sucked’. The more specific your affirmations the less room there is for the grandest version of the affirmation to come to pass. Focusing on the essence of what you want to experience wins out every time and leaves the figuring out part up to The Universe. Do you have any affirmations you want to change? Be well, Joan Pasay **************************************************************************
Thursday, April 9, 2009 Why Do I Have To Be Willing To Change For My Affirmations To Work? Many people seem to think that they can use affirmations in a vacuum while leaving the rest of their life as it is. Affirmations don’t work that way. The process of affirmations is really simple.1.Think/say a new thought (the affirmation) 2.Experience a positive feeling about the thought ( the affirmation) 3.Make new decisions that will support your new thought (the affirmation) 4.Take new actions that support the decisions you have made 5. Experience your affirmation coming to pass Does this chain of events always happen easily? No, and the reason is something you might not be expecting. The person doing the affirming has to be willing to make changes in their life. Why? Well, if you are affirming for a ‘certain something’ it would make sense that whatever you have been doing in the past has not been that productive in relation to the ‘certain something’ or you would already have what you are focusing on. Now don’t think you have to start psychotherapy or howl at the moon before your affirmation will come to pass. You can if you want to, if you think it will help (and in some cases that is really the option that will serve you). For the rest of you there is a simple ‘starter affirmation’ you can say regardless of your ‘main affirmation’ that will cover you. “I am open to changing and evolving.” That’s it? Yup. Oh, you also have to really mean it. Here is another tip: Don’t work yourself up about anything. Just be open to whatever comes to the forefront of your thinking. Usually you start seeing unproductive or dysfunctional behavior in your life such as: -You hear yourself saying something and realize it contradicts your affirmation and the life you are focusing on. -You see your friends behaving in ways that will prevent you from achieving your affirmation and you ‘know’ you have to make some changes in your relationships. -You go to perform a task you have done a hundred time and you suddenly see it as being different and part of the key to you achieving your affirmation. Most of the times you experience an ‘ah ha’ moment and know exactly what you need to do and any changes you need to make. Other times it is a slow process of noticing that something in your life is the cause of your lack of having something you really want. When the realization comes you will know and making the changes will be a no brainer. Remember this affirmation: “I am open to changing and evolving.” This simple statement will open the door to your affirmations easily aligning themselves to you. Friday, April 3, 2009 How to Sabotage Your Affirmations (It is so easy)Affirmations really work for a lot of people. I have heard countless stories, firsthand, of people manifesting income, lovers, children, lost items and events that are joyful beyond words. Others however, do a smash up job of sabotaging their affirmations efforts at every turn and end up with nothing they affirmed and usually being farther behind than when they started. Is it the fault of the affirmation? Are the gods out to get this person because of bad karma? Well, maybe but I doubt it. The answer is really much simpler than dirty karma or cheesed off affirmations elves – the answer is in the flow. You see life has a flow and sometimes you are racing downstream with your goal clear in sight. Your fans are cheering you on from the shore - you can see your goal, you can smell it and sometimes even feel it between your fingertips. Other times you meander down a shallow creek sometimes running up on a dry creek bed or even getting caught in an overhanging tree. In the end the tree branch saves your life and you reach your goal. It’s later than planned - but you get where you want just the same. Both of these events are part of life. Affirmers sometimes interpret these life events incorrectly and get themselves in a big muddle and end up tossing a super result down the ‘life toilet’. Here is a great (and real) example: Harry is focusing on manifesting a job that is closer to his creative gifting. He is a freelancer and for the last two years he has been doing projects that have been lucrative, but not exactly in line with his creative area. Harry has been aggressively affirming: “I am now working with my creative talents and being paid handsomely for it”. So far it seems to make sense. As well as his job affirmation, Harry has been affirming to attract some new friends and live in a warmer climate. One day an old contact calls up Harry and asks him to work with him on a new product for a few months. Harry will be paid well, however, it is not in line with Harry’s creative gifts. Harry is not busy with other projects but decides to not take the work because he wants to stay true to his affirmation: “I am now working with my creative talents and being paid handsomely for it”. Harry continues to work his affirmation for the next two months. That old contact runs into Harry in a local coffee shop and mentions he still needs help with is product launch and lets Harry know he can still come on board. Harry, frustrated at his lack of progress with manifesting his job goal, again, says he is not interested. Later that week Harry tosses his affirmation in the garbage and angrily curses that darn blog that claimed ‘affirmations really work’. Whoops. Harry really blew it. Here is what was going on in the background while Harry was affirming and affirming for his creative talents to be used. Remember the client that called Harry and wanted help with that new product line? He was the bridge that would get Harry moved to a warmer climate within the next year. That new product line caught the eye of a wealthy angel investor that wanted the whole team to relocate to San Diego. That wealthy investor was to become Harry’s best friend. Three years later Harry’s best friend would invest in a creative idea that Harry dreamt about one warm San Diego night – That idea was the perfect match for Harry’s creative talents. Ouch. Well cheer up, Harry will never know any of this. Harry will continue on and think affirmations don’t work and maybe reach his goal but it will be hard and it will probably take a long, long, long, long, time. Most likely Harry will spend a lot of time being discouraged, angry and unhappy. Life is not a linear ruler that we can sit on and see from one side to the other. It twists, turns and wanders all about. Think about how you met your spouse, or a really good friend. Was it planned? Did you wake up one morning and say “Today I will meet a great person that I will spend the next 20 years with?” Likely not. Affirmations sometimes work the same way too. We affirm for a certain item to come to pass. We visualize. We meditate and we affirm some more. We are religious in our practice day in day out. Suddenly, one day, an opportunity presents itself for us to get involved in something, or we get invited to an event, or our car breaks down and a co-worker offers us a lift, or a neighbour offers to call us a plumber because our sink is plugged. We turn down the opportunity, we decline the invitation, we take a cab and we get out the plunger and start plunging. After all, these offers don’t line up with our affirmations. Or do they? Accepting the flow in life in one of the best gifts you can give yourself and the key to seeing results from your affirmations. Remember flow means ‘flow’. It takes no effort and it seems to appear from nowhere with you doing nothing to bring it to you. The next time you get an unexpected telephone call from someone you have not heard from in ten years, take notice. The next time you are offered something you were not expecting, think about it. And the next time you are affirming - be open to leaving the how's of your affirmation up to those affirmation elves*. I think they know what they are doing. *Affirmation elves do not exist, I think. Be well, Joan Pasay Ps. Try this affirmation: I am open to leaving the how's of my affirmations up to the Universe. ******************************* Joan Pasay is just one of the MoneyAffirmationsMP3.com Team, whose lives have been radically changed by the continued use of positive affirmations for money and in every area of life. Thursday, April 2, 2009 When Affirmations Become Part Of Your Everyday Thinking - Affirmations On The FlyWhen a person starts using affirmations is takes a lot of effort to keep up the affirming and for most they don't stick with it -- it takes effort! Affirmations are not a magic wand that can be waved around for a few minutes and then presto! your life is wonderful...If you do stick with the practice of affirmations two very interesting things happen: 1. You start achieving most of what you are affirming (yippee!) 2. You start affirming without even try to do it I will explain number two. Let's say you have to renew your license and you know you only have this morning to do it. Your day is totally booked and it has to be this morning. Your spouse mentions when he renewed his license he had to wait over an hour to get his new photo processed and above the time wait all the clerks were very unhelpful and cranky. Without a blink you find yourself saying to yourself (or aloud) “I am going to renew my license this morning and it will be quick, easy and fun” You notice you have no negative thoughts about the upcoming license adventure AND you experience no fear that your adventure will be at all like your husbands. You automatically think something positive and create an affirmation to seal the deal -- on the fly. Cool. This happens to me all the time throughout the day. Affirmations come out of my mouth, or into my mind without me having to piece them together or even think about it -- “This is going to be easy” “This is going to be quick” “I going to find a great parking spot” “I can do this task -- it is easy” “Today I am going to have fun and be relaxed” So what happens if you affirm your positive preferred outcome and you get to the license office and it is exactly as your husband described? Well, I would suspect you won't notice and find that the hour wait allowed you to do something else you had to do (or chat with a very interesting character in the line behind you) and allowed you to give an encouraging word to the clerk who served you. When your husband asks you how it went at the license office your reply will be "It went great" and you won't remember anything but the positive parts. Affirmations-on-the-fly are such a valuable side reward to sticking with affirmations. When those affirmations come up from within without any effort you will feel like you just won a gold medal. Enjoy it, because your efforts are rewarding you. Be well, Joan Pasay Try this affirmation: I let myself be free to live a great life ************************************************************************** Joan Pasay is just one of the MoneyAffirmationsMP3.com Team, whose lives have been radically changed by the continued use of positive affirmations for money and in every area of life. Wednesday, April 1, 2009 Releasing The Outcome of Your AffirmationsI have found that the secret to affirmations is to release the outcome. I know it sounds counterproductive but it really is not. Here is how it works.Let's say you are affirming to get a new job. You focus and affirm and go about your day to day comings and goings. After many months you are wondering what is happening, or what isn't happening -- you are still in the same old crappy job... Sometimes, affirmations don't work. While there are many possible reasons for this: -you sabotage the affirmation because your inner self does not support the venture -you don't stick with it as well as others there is also the element of 'something better than the affirmation' happening. I will explain... Sometimes we think we really really want something to happen (increase our beauty, get a lover, increase our wealth, get a new house, land a new job, etc). Sometimes our inner self has something better in mind, we just don't know it yet. Sometimes what we think would be really great for us really would not. Releasing the outcome of an affirmation allows The Universe (or your inner self) to let these perfect things happen. There have been many affirmations I have faithfully affirmed only later to be SO happy they did not come to pass. Life twists and turns sometimes and I know we think we have it all figured out but sometimes surprises happen that are very fruitful and full of joy. Even some really painful experiences result in great things happening that otherwise would have never happened. Joe Vitale (Attractor Factor) coaches affirmers to simply state to The Universe (inner self) after a meditation/affirmation "This or something better" This is really an exercise in detachment or being unattached to the outcome of your affirmations and accepting what is (rather than pining for something, somewhere else). Yes, you really want these things to happen... -you voice the desire (the affirmation) -you feel the emotion -you make different decisions -you take different actions... and then you forget about it. When results start happening accept them. This doesn't mean you can not affirm for the results to change it simply means accept whatever happens -- after all you are creating all of this. If you really think your results suck ask your inner self what is going on -- I am sure you will get an earful! Be well, Joan Pasay PS. Remember, most of the time your affirmations will come to pass as you wish them to. Sometimes the bigger issue ones take a long time, or manifest in stages -- be patient and remember to continue living until what you are affirming works itself out. Try this affirmation: I am enough...always have been..always will be. ************************************************************************** Joan Pasay is just one of the MoneyAffirmationsMP3.com Team, whose lives have been radically changed by the continued use of positive affirmations for money and in every area of life.
