What to Do When Your Affirmations Are Not Happening

From time to time we all seem to stall out with our affirmations. We diligently repeat our powerful tiny phrases and after weeks and weeks, or sometimes even months and months – nothing. Why do our affirmations sometimes not come to pass?

Many times our affirmations are going to come to pass and we just need to take a little more time and remain focused. There are no set timelines for these things and some affirmations take a lot of effort and others come to pass quite easily. Other times the reason for the lack of results is quite simple. Thinking and perceptions about life are conflicting with the affirmation.

For example – Let’s say you are affirming for a great guy to appear in your life and become your romantic partner. You could use an affirmation such as the one below.

“I am living a great life with a great guy who loves me and wants to be with me.”

Seems simple enough. ..Well it might be, or it might be the hardest affirmation you have ever worked on. You will only manifest your dream guy if you allow yourself to do so. Any type of dysfunctional thinking about guys or your ability to get a guy will hinder your affirmations. Now the prospect that you might have some dysfunctional thinking about guys might be a bit overwhelming. How do you make sure your thoughts are not getting in the way? There is an easy answer to all of this and all it takes is the addition of one tiny affirmation.

“I am open to letting my dream guy come into my life.”

Then add your affirmation.

“I am open to letting my dream guy come into my life. I am living a great life with a great guy who loves me and wants to be with me.”

The key all of this is the part of the first affirmation - “I am open...”

Many times opening yourself is all it takes to gently massage your thinking and perceptions into line to allow your affirmations to come to pass. One note, this is not magic. You are simply opening yourself up to letting something happen. This will take time and there might be some pain along the way when you become aware of the thinking patterns and perceptions that you owned that were in conflict with your affirmation.

Remember, you are affirming that you are open to letting that dream guy come into your life. You are not affirming that you are letting that dream guy come into your life (which probably is a total conflict to what you are currently thinking). The opening process is like a tiny bud that slowly, slowly grows and gently, even so gently opens its fragile petals to soak up the sun. The process might take a few weeks, or a few months, or even a few years and even a few relationships that don’t last. Give yourself time for the opening process to happen – otherwise your affirmation will not come to pass. Conflicting thinking and perceptions about life always play a trump card to affirmations – there are no exceptions!

Try adding the phrase “I am open to...” with your affirmations. It really works to break down the conflicting thoughts and get your results coming quicker and quicker.

Affirmation Secrets: How to Hold to Your Affirmations and Keep on Living in the Now

Lots of people really become very committed to their affirmations. They speak the affirmations in the morning when they awake. They speak the affirmations at night before they fall asleep. You can hear them speaking the affirmations at every moment - in the shower, while they cook and when they are walking the dog. Day in day out the affirmations are right there on the front of their minds. Some people even turn the affirmations into a sort of chant that continues on all day long. Sounds like a winning formula to me. Well, it is, sort of. Affirmations work best when repeated many times over and over. This repetition helps the inner mind change and fall in line with whatever it is you are focusing on. Over time the repeating of the affirmations will change how you think about your desired outcome and in turn change how you feel, behave and the decisions you make. What tends to happen with hyper- affirming, like described above, is that the person who is doing the affirming becomes paralyzed with their current life situation. Sometimes the affirmations turn into an intense desire that cancels out whatever is happening right now. It is as if the person starts to hibernate, waiting until the affirmation comes to pass.

As mentioned, affirmations work best when repeated over and over – but not over and over all day long! The purpose of affirming is to slowly change your inner perceptions about your life – not to blot out your current life situation. Affirming all day long will not help you get to your goal faster. It will put you in automatic mode – you need your mind working, not on mute!

Affirmations work best when your mind is impressionable:

1. First thing in the morning while you are getting awake.

2. Last thing at night when you are falling asleep.

3. During meditation or journaling.

4. While walking alone and enjoying the outdoors.

5. During a visualization time (some do this while meditating).

6. When you are feeling bombarded with thoughts of fear regarding not achieving your affirmation. At these times let the affirmations rip fast and furious to get yourself back in balance.

You will find that affirming three or four times a day is sufficient if you are focused while you are doing the affirming. As mentioned in number six keep the affirmations flowing if you are feeling overwhelmed with fear. At these times the chanting method is actually quite helpful. Remember to turn it off and come back to reality once your feel back in line with your desired outcome.

Other than that go live your life – the one you have right now. Your affirmations will come to pass over time as your inner self becomes more aligned with what you are affirming. Racing through affirmations over and over all day long will only prevent you from seeing what is perfect in your life right now – and keep you focused away from your current reality which you need to attend to if you want it to become something else.

Happiness Affirmations for A Happier You

Happiness, happiness...it seems everyone wants to be happier. Are we really all a sad lot of people or are we simply confused as to what happiness really is? Well, it is probably a bit of both. Many of us have experienced upbringings and lives that have not been full of happy emotions. Others of us are out there looking for happiness and are no closer to it than when we started. So where is this happiness? Do we have to have that happy childhood in order to be happy as an adult? Do we have to find the place where happiness is no matter how hard and long we have looked for it? Forget all these questions already! I’ll let you in on a secret I discovered many years ago. It has to do with this happiness deal and it might just bring you a whole bunch of happiness, whether you like it or not.

First off, stop looking for happiness. The journey is highly overrated and it won’t get you any kind of tangible happiness that you can hold onto. Second, stop analyzing your past to try to figure out all the crappy stuff that happened to you. That backward looking experience will only perpetuate the negative emotions you are already intertwined with.

Happiness is an emotion. Being happy is something we feel when we think the world is a friendly place, cheering for us rather than against us. Wait a minute! This simply sounds more like a mindset or perspective rather than a formula for happiness. Exactly. Your perspective on your life and everything that happens to you will determine your level of happiness – plain and simple.

Adopt the mindset that the world is an evil place, full of harm and pain and that is exactly what you will experience. Adopt the mindset that the world is on your side and you are fully capable of thriving in this environment and that is what you will experience. Your happiness quotient is really up to you – the decision on how this will play out is in your court.

Affirmation Secrets: Do I Have To Believe In God For My Affirmations To Work?

Contrary to what others may have told you, the answer is no, however it might help if you do. Let me explain. Lots of people believe in some form of a god. There are many titles that people use for ‘god’. Some call god - Father, or Jesus, or Buddha, or the Universe as well as many others names. For the sake of this article I will refer to all of these entities as God. Now I won’t get into why you should or should not believe in a God entity, that is really a personal thing, I will just give you one of the benefits.

It seems that people that believe in a God entity think that ‘anything is possible’ because the God entity is able to help them, give them assistance, and direction. It also seems that some people that don’t believe in a God entity have a harder time wrapping their head around ‘anything is possible’ because everything is up to them. Then to make matters more complicated some people believe ‘anything is possible’ because they are God, or God is within them (not somewhere out there). So I guess maybe the bigger issue is -

Do you believe anything is possible?

If you don’t believe ‘anything is possible’ your affirmations won’t work very well. If you do believe it because you think a God entity is rooting for you then your affirmations will work better. If you do believe it because you know you have all the power and strength you will even need because you are God then your affirmations will work better too.

The bottom line is really believing that whatever you are affirming can actually happen, even if your affirmation goal is far beyond your current capabilities, power, financial status, state of health or whatever. Affirmations work really well when you put positive beliefs into the emotions of the affirmation. Even if you cannot think of any way in heaven or hell that you can achieve your affirmation, belief or faith that the affirmation can come to pass will put you halfway across the finish line. The rest is all about timing, releasing the specifics and going with the flow – even if your flow is a little scattered.

So make God part of the picture whether the entity is ‘out there somewhere’ or right inside you and put your faith to work – one affirmation at a time.

Affirmation Secrets: How to Find Your Place in Life

From time to time many of us seem to float around our lives never knowing how to touch down, where to settle and what to put our hands to. It seems as if we cannot find our place and don’t seem to know where we belong. For some this happens after a major life shift like a divorce, a loved one’s death or upon retirement. For others, it seems like we have always been living without our feet touching the ground. Why does this happen? Why do we feel the sensation of being disconnected? I think it is because we have lost our bearings and we are out of balance and harmony with the world, the earth, ourselves and everything in between.

The feeling and sensation of belonging is actually quite easy to get, even if you have never actually experienced it. It only takes two simple steps and the results are guaranteed to surprise you.

Step 1. Decide that you want to be connected back to the earth.

Step 2. Affirm that you are in balance and harmony with yourself, others and the universe.

Deciding that you want to be connected might be hard for some but after you make the decision the rest will be quite easy. If you cannot make bring yourself to utter the words that you want to belong you might find this exercise quite painful.

After you get past step one start affirming!

“I am in balance and harmony with myself, others around me and the universe.”

And that is all there is to it. Keep repeating this affirmation to yourself at least ten times a day and after a short period of time you will feel much better. You will also notice new opportunities come across your path that will help you feel even more connected than you are starting to feel.

Remember, affirmations don’t work overnight and they really don’t work if you say them a few times for a few days and then forget about them. The art of using affirmations is an exercise is focus and commitment. Though it takes more effort in the beginning to get the affirmations results to flow the payback, once the affirmation starts to ‘click’, will be tremendous.

Finding your bearings and the feeling like you belong is only two simple steps away. Make the decision today to decide you want it and then start affirming for your balance and harmony. A few months from now your life will be drastically different.

You earn money doing whatever it is you spend your work time on. You use the money for food, clothing, shelter and entertainment. Those food, clothing, shelter and entertainment vendors take the money and feed, clothe, house and entertain their own families. It is all a cycle. The money keeps flowing all around over and over. Now try stepping out of this cycle. Earn your money but don’t spend any of it. Ouch, no food, no shelter, no housing and no entertainment. Double ouch, all those vendors can’t feed, clothe, house and entertain their own families. The system breaks apart. The money flow ends. Hoarding money doesn’t fit with this system nor does permanently removing yourself from the money creation process. You need to be in the system. Now, I am not saying don’t save money for later, you might plan to use it to buy food, clothing, shelter and entertainment at a later date. You don’t have to spend everything you earn. You also might have a season in your life where you choose to remove yourself from part of the system (the earning part) and you would still like to participate in the economy. Money saved works great for these seasons.

So how do you stay in the flow of money?

*Acknowledge that money flows around and that is ok.

*Acknowledge that you want to be part of the money system.

*Relax into the flow of money.

Affirmations really work to reinforce a healthy relationship with money and ensure you are always confident to let money flow into and out of life –without the panic and the desire to hold it tight in case there might never be anymore. Affirmations and the Fear of Death

Are you afraid of death? You are not alone. Many people spend quite a bit of their living time being very concerned about where they might go when they die (if anywhere) and what might happen when they get there (if anything). Seems like a lot to think about. But is thinking about death to the point of sleepless nights really necessary? I don’t think so, but let’s talk about it.

Well, the first thing we all know is that everyone dies at some point. The second thing we know is that what happens after we die is a mystery. Doesn’t it seem kind of odd that with all our technology and intelligence that we have not figured out this death thing? Marry that with the fact that we have not really figured out where we came from to begin with either and it seems like we have a pattern here of intended unknowns. No one is certain where we came from and no one is certain where will go once this life is over. Oh, sure some religious people will give you an earful about heaven, hell, paradise and a whole bunch of other places, but they don’t really know either they have just found comfort in the teachings of their faith. Mankind has always purposed theories about these things as they tried to make peace with the issue of dying.

What if the intention of our death was to welcome the unknown? What if we came to peace with our death and were able to get on living? Could an affirmation help? You bet.

So many of us want to feel more comfortable with ourselves and how we fit with the world. Some of us are just a little shy and some of us have a lot of work to do when it comes to a healthy self esteem. Whether your issues have arisen from a dysfunctional childhood or some other incident it really does not matter. The key is to desire to be healthy and have a great self image. Affirmations are a great way to gently move you in the direction of being ok with yourself and ready to get on with living.

Since there might be some leftover dysfunctions from childhood or other traumatic incidents clearing yourself is the place you want to start. Use this clearing affirmation first, before you start with your self esteem affirmations.

The key is to deal with the ideas and opinions that are causing the negative emotions. After this you will be able to freely say your money affirmations and feel a positive emotion such as peace, happiness, contentment and excitement. There are two ways to deal with ideas and opinions that are hindering your affirmations:

1.Get therapy.

2.Open yourself up to change.

For some therapy really is the best option. If you were raised in a dysfunctional environment that included your very existence being harmed or threatened I would recommend therapy. For the rest of you, skip to number two.

Opening yourself up to change is actually very easy. All it takes is a little super powerful affirmation:

Saying this affirmation will gently bring to the surface items that need your attention before any money hopes you have can come to pass. Remember the process will be gentle. Money Affirmations That Will Bring Money Into Your Wallet – Part Two

In part one we talked about how some people fail at using money affirmations to bring them an increase in finances. The reason is simply that some preconceived ideas about money will conflict with the affirmations a person is affirming. Here is an example:

A person affirms to receive a promotion (which would involve a 100% raise). This seems simple enough - unless the person has some inner money issues about the desired promotion.

-“A fifty percent raise is a lot. Am I really worth that much money?"

-“What if people will think I am a fraud and tell my boss I don’t deserve that kind of compensation?”

-“What will my husband think when I make two times as much money as him?”

-“My sister went to college longer than me and she does not even make that kind of money, would I have to hide my promotion from her?”

-“Would I have to move to the downtown office? That would require dressing up more. I hate business suits and think the downtown staff are snobs; always flaunting their fancy cars, laptops and lattes at us. Do I really want to be one of those rich downtown snobs?”

-“My parents are going to need extra care pretty soon, will my siblings think I should pay a bigger share because I will make more money than the rest of them?”

-“Will getting a raise change me and make me a rich? What will my neighbors think? Will we have to move?”

This person is comfortable making the amount of money she currently makes however the idea of doubling her salary is causing her to have some really strong negative emotions. Affirming to receive a promotion will probably not do much because of the fear this lady is experiencing. Saying affirmations while being scared to death is not a healthy endeavour.

Money affirmations, or any type of affirmations, work a lot better when there is a positive emotion attached. If you are saying affirmations and you feel sad, angry, confused, perplexed or fearful stop and take notice. Then, try and address the issue.

Money Affirmations That Will Bring Money into Your Wallet – Part One

So you want more money do you? Seems simply enough – focus on what you want, speak your affirmations and in a while - presto, money is everywhere... Right? Well, it does not really work that way and most people get really disappointed with their money affirmations efforts. I think the reason is really simple, however the remedy isn’t. The remedy requires work, focus and a willingness to change. The best place to start is to talk about why most people fail with their financial affirmations.

Most people fail at using affirmations to get more money because of something inside of them. The person doing the affirmation actually sabotages the affirmations. Why would someone do such a thing? All people, regardless of upbringing, economic status, race or any other difference that sets a person apart, have many preconceived notions about money. Everyone I have ever met has had thoughts and opinions about money. My mother does, my father does, my siblings do, and my mayor does. Even the president has thoughts and opinions about money. You will never meet a person who does not have ideas about how money works. All of these people also have some very strong ideas about how they fit with money, how the money thing works for them and what part money plays in their lives and the lives of others.

Sounds pretty complicated doesn’t it?

Answer these questions and see what you think about some of these money ideas:

1.Being rich while there are poor people is morally wrong. (yes, no or maybe)

2.Living pay check to pay check is wrong. (yes, no or maybe)

3.The answer to a healthy retirement is to invest a portion of your money now so you will have money later. (yes, no or maybe)

4.It is wrong if I get laid off, or someone I know gets laid off. (yes, no or maybe)

5.I think the government spends too much borrowed money. (yes, no or maybe)

6.Short selling stocks on the stock market is morally wrong. (yes, no or maybe)

7.Corporations are too powerful in our economy. (yes, no or maybe)

8.Parents should help their children pay for their education. (yes, no or maybe)

9.Borrowing money is wrong. (yes, no or maybe)

10.Buying real estate is to key to financial freedom. (yes, no or maybe)

Did you know there is no right or wrong answer to these questions? Does the notion that there is no right or wrong regarding money make you a little agitated? The truth is -

There are only preconceived opinions, ideas and thoughts about money.

And the point is –

To realize that even you have your own opinions and ideas about money.

It does not matter where you got these ideas from, just realize you have them. The key now is to make sure those ideas don’t get in to the way of using affirmations to bring more money into your life.

Affirmations That Will Bring Happiness into Your Life

It seems these days that a lot of people are not that impressed with their happiness gas tank. It’s been running on fumes for years and there are only a few drops left. Maybe it is time for a change, why not try some affirmations?

Before we begin I think you need to know that saying affirmations alone will not bring you happiness. Affirmations need to be spoken, written, meditated or visualized within a state of wanting to change. The best way to do this is to affirm that change is something you are open to.

How about:

“I am open to changing and evolving.”

This affirmation will gently move you in the direction of recognizing things in your life that you would be served to look at and decide whether some housecleaning is in order. This affirmation will also gently move you in the direction of wanting to add things in your life that are not currently there.

Ok, so our first affirmation takes care of the changing and evolving part. Now let’s get to that happiness thing. What do we affirm for when we are interested in being happier?

1. Specific items that we really wish to have in our life? Nope, things won’t make you happy. In fact any problems or dysfunctions you have now will only be made larger (and more painful) if you suddenly get a bunch of new things you think you want – especially money!
2. People aligning about us as we wish for? Nope, people can’t make you happy either. In fact, you will only be disappointed because people have wills and desires that won’t be the same as yours.

Stumped?

How about this affirmation:

Step One (from above): “I am open to changing and evolving.”

Step Two: “I am open to finding true happiness in my life and in myself.”

That’s it? Yup. Happiness is actually very easy to find. Most people just go looking in all the places that happiness never goes. Yes, getting more things, or money, or people in your life might make things more comfortable but being comfortable does not make you happy. Happiness comes from within. If we only looked there first we would find it a lot easier. But be warned - it still will take some time to recognize that happiness feeling you long for. You have been stifling it and ignoring it for years and it will need some time to get convinced you are really open to changing, evolving and finding out where it resides. Have fun on your journey and know that happiness awaits.

The Key to Getting Affirmations to Work for You

Affirmations really work for some people. Others seem to bomb big time with affirmations and the books and affirmation journals soon get tossed in the trash. Why is this so? While there are many reasons why some people can’t get affirmations to work I think these persons are missing the secret key to the whole exercise. And this key does not only apply to affirmations. I really think it is the key to life. Get a grasp on this secret and your life will radically change for the better. Interested?

Remove the act of judgement from your life.

Ready to take a test drive?

The next time you read the newspaper, talk to your co-workers, chat with your mother, see a homeless person, check out the weather report, or read a magazine notice how many times you pass judgement on what you read, hear, see or are told.

“That is a tragedy...”

“My boss is such a loser...”

“She is totally wrong, I know what is really happening...”

“He was too young to die...”

“It is going to rain, what a miserable day...”

“He does not know what he is talking about...”

“Those guys are ruining the whole project, wait till I talk to my boss about this...”

Most of the time you will notice your judgements about things are negative in nature. You will also notice that you have an opinion about everything!

- Like people you don’t know

- Situations you know little about or are not involved in

-World events you just read about

-People you have not talked to in months

And countless others...

But wait! Are things really a tragedy or are they just things that you would not like to have happen to you? Is your boss really a loser, or does he just think differently than you? How do you know someone is totally wrong or do they just act in an alternate manner? Was that guy really too young to die or did he just die before your preconceived notion of when it is the right time to die?

Sometimes we even pass judgement on things and decide they are wonderful! That can be just as dysfunctional. A passing grade for some is great, for another it is exactly what they did not want. News of a new grandchild might bring joy to you, but the parents might not be thrilled about it. Finding out you just got a new client might look great to your co-workers, but you might not think you have the manpower to handle the clients you already have.

So how does removing judgement map onto getting our affirmations to work? Results to affirmations don’t always happen in a linear fashion. Results don’t always happen all together. The results of your affirmation might be a ten step puzzle that takes you here and there and finally gets you to where you wanted to go. If you start judging the outcomes of your affirmation ‘while in transit’ you likely will pass judgement on something that is really just part of the total result soon to be coming your way – and if you do the final result will disappear. Poof! Right before your eyes the affirmation stops working, you give up and toss out all those articles and books about affirmations.

Removing the act of judgement takes a bit of effort. Instead of judging things why not try just observing what is going on around you and say:

‘‘Oh, I see he broke his leg.”

“Yes, I heard he died.”

“There is going to be a snowstorm today.”

“The boat sunk.”

“He passed his exam and got accepted into law school.”

Sounds like you are just stating the facts. Exactly! And when your start your affirmations and you notice something in your life change – just notice. Most likely the change is the start of your affirmation coming to pass. Just to let you know, many times affirmations start coming to pass when a ‘perceived’ negative event happens. I have experienced this dozens of times. I worked with a fellow that received news he has testicular cancer. He left work for a number of months and worked through his recovery. When he returned to work he was a changed man. He was beaming like an angel. All of this from getting cancer? Sometimes things that appear to be negative can be life’s biggest gifts and get you closer to what you really want. I wonder what would have happened if this guy had passed judgement on his situation? Would he still have come out of those months feeling light as a feather? I doubt it.

Why not try removing judgement from your life for one week? Take the challenge and see if you can do it. You will start to notice that you look at everything in a very different way. People won’t be able to get you rattled, reading the newspaper won’t get you in a huff, that call from your mother will go over like a breeze and your conversation with your kid will leave you feeling totally free. Oh, and your affirmations will start to work because you left the ‘chain of events that will lead to your result’ alone. Simply observe life, stop being the judge and watch your life and affirmations really start to work in your favour.
